PIN - People and Information Network is the number one source for volunteer opportunities, community information and nonprofit leadership in Guelph and Wellington.  
 
In service of this mission, PIN is developing new training and support resources for volunteers, volunteer managers, board members and community leaders in Guelph-Wellington region. To support this effort, PIN is currently seeking local volunteers to join our Curriculum Development Team as content curators. A content curator is an individual who excels at helping others makes sense of a knowledge domain. 
 
As a part of this team, you will be curating links, resources, training material and other relevant content to support the training needs of nonprofits and charities in the Guelph-Wellington Region. Primary Responsibilities: 
 
Imagine you have access to a hot-tub time machine and can go back to communicate a past version of yourself who is at the onset of your current career and professional responsibilities. Knowing what you know now about your area of expertise, what links, resources and other useful information would you share with an earlier version of yourself?  
 
Work with PIN team to collect, curate and assemble repositories of links, resources and other content to support the training objectives of PIN’s Curriculum Development Team. Topics may include: Board governance, succession planning, fundraising, volunteer management, etc. 
 
Additional Responsibilities 
 
Locate and evaluate valuable content.  
Sorting, organizing and structuring content in a way that is accessible to participants of varied experiences and expertise.  
Contextualizing content to help make it as meaningful as possible to a specific audience.  
Promote content on social media and other channels to promote content and learning opportunities. 
Monitoring and evaluating how participants and learners interact the content 
Refining content sources and curating content repositories over time so it continues to add value to participants.

Prepare and create focused lessons, courses, learning resources, assignments to respond to training needs of participants.  
Identify potential participants, promote course offerings and solicit learner participation. 
Create assessment and evaluation materials. Monitoring and evaluating how participants and learners interact with the courses. 
Refining courses over time so it continues to add value to participants.

-Oversee a small wireless network.

-Establish a modest A/V recording/live streaming studio

The Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) is a volunteer committee of professionals who have experience and knowledge in the areas of grief and bereavement. PAC’s primary role is to ensure all programs operate within the BFO-MR mission, mandate, goals, beliefs and values. It strives to identify areas of opportunity where improvement and development of programming can be found to ensure BFO-MR is evolving to meet the needs of the bereaved community. 
 
PAC members represent fields such as health care, social work, spirituality, funeral services and education.

o Print the receipt and allow the patient to remove the file from the printer  
• Direct the patient to the exit  
• Wipe down table and computer with disinfectant wipes when leaving for breaks, returning from breaks, and leaving after shift is completed  
• Make sure that no proof of vaccination PDF files are saved to the laptop at the end of your shift – delete these files if they have been saved

Description: Assist clinic patients with direction and ensuring they are only entering the queue for their appointment times  
Location: Parking areas and Entry Line  
Required PPE: Level 2 medical mask  
Required Materials: Orange Safety Vest and Level 2 Medical Mask  
Roles and Responsibilities:  
• Ensure empty parking spots can be identified to patients arriving at clinic  
• Ensure patients understand where to line up for entry to the clinic  
• Ensure the entry line is in order of appointment times  
o Patients if left to their own will line up first come first serve  
o We need to ensure they are in order by their appointments  
o The person whose appointment is at 10:30 should be in front of the 10:45 patient  
o This will ensure better flow inside of the clinic  
• Periodically monitor patients in line to assist if required – Do not touch patients physically – get them a chair if necessary  
• Provide direction back to parking lot, if necessary  
• Ensure volunteers are parking at Hitachi and not in clinic parking lots  
• In case of Emergency  
o If you are first on scene notify supervisory personnel  
o Advise all people - emergency in process  
o Ensure any patients outdoors are aware there is an issue and advise of possible wait time  
o If requested, assist incident commander or emergency team as directed

Description: Direct patients to recovery chairs and observe how they feeling  
Location: Vaccination stations line  
Required PPE: Level 2 medical mask and face shield, provided by clinic  
Required Materials: disinfectant wipes, provided by clinic 
Roles and Responsibilities:  
• Coordinates with check-out volunteers to direct patients to an empty check-out station  
o If no check-out station is available, recovery volunteer will ask them to remain in the recovery area  
• Ensures that patient has completed their designated waiting period in the recovery area  
o White sticker: 13 minute wait time  
o Red sticker: 30 minute wait time  
• Remind patients not to stay longer than their designated waiting period  
• Observe how patients feeling  
o If any of the patients in the recovery area is feeling faint/lightheaded/unwell, coordinate with recovery volunteer to find an EMS first responder from recovery area  
o DO NOT let patient leave recovery if they are feeling unwell  
• Direct the patient to the check-out stations  
• Wipe down recovery chairs with disinfectant wipes between patients  
• Ensure 1.5 minutes gap between disinfecting chair and next patient  
• No food or drink is allowed at stations and in the line

The Membership and Marketing Committee currently has nine members and could benefit from up to three more. This Committee is responsible to the Board for all membership and marketing initiatives, focusing on the maximum interest of members and advancement of the Board’s Strategic Plan.  
 
The M&M Committee monitors membership satisfaction and develops plans to improve member recruitment and retention. Marketing responsibilities include arranging for media coverage, creating advertisements; developing promotional material and arranging special events such as Open House and New Members’ Welcome - either virtually or in-person as appropriate.  
 
The Committee provides content and messaging advice to the webmaster for the website and social media accounts and prepares monthly GWSA Email Updates. Marketing and recruitment experience would definitely be assets, but are not required.

WELC is located inside Taylor Evans Public School, but meetings are currently being held via zoom
Our Board of Directors is a mix of parents with children in the program, and community members. Board meetings are once per month, and we try to keep them informal and friendly. If you have been to meetings for other boards, with unions, etc. they would have been of a much more formal nature, but as we are focused on the good of the children, it allows us to have a more relaxed atmosphere in our meetings.  
 
The role of the board is to govern and assist with policy and overall direction of the centre. Some responsibilities may include, assisting with financials, assisting with advertising, fundraising, policy review. We do not, as a rule, get involved with the day to day operation of the centre. We are, however, available to the supervisor as a resource for consultation and advice. All of our meetings are currently being held via Zoom.

Our hospital peer visitors visit new stroke survivors within the hospital environment providing help with recovery by providing hope, hands-on-tangible knowledge to manage the emotional and physical stages of stroke using hope, optimism and encouragement. WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed program supports parents feeding human milk in any way, in any amount. Parents can receive support in two ways. One-to-one telephone support with trained and experienced parent-volunteers or weekly drop-in Breastfeeding & Chestfeed Cafes. Cafe is offered in an online format and is a great place for parents to socialize with other breastfeeding / chestfeeding families and get support with challenges. 
 
Become trained to offer support and lead group sessions providing feeding & parenting support to other parents. Keep logs of supporting, track hours, remain in good communication with the program coordinator. 
 
 
IMPORTANT Information:  
 
Volunteers in this role are required to have had breastfeed or chestfeeding experience. Please consider joining this program as an administrative support or in a health promotion role if you do not have breast or chest feeding experience.  
 
Guelph CHC acknowledges the importance of Peer-led work and offers 20 hours of training for this position but also ask for a minimum 6 month commitment.
