Volunteers will assist the residents whom live at the Health Centre to attend various recreation programs, which are planned and lead by the Recreation staff. Volunteers will assist residents to the program space, engage with the residents through conversation and motivating them to participate or enjoy the environment. Volunteers are the extra support for the staff and can provide 1:1 attention with the residents.
Homewood Health Centre
Volunteers work closely with Recreation Therapy staff to assist with Homewood patient craft sessions. The volunteer will provide a creative and social environment for the development of skills and to enhance a sense of well-being using ceramics and leatherwork. This position requires a regular weekly commitment.

Active Start provides fundamental movement skills and fundamental sports skills to children with special needs, ages 3.5 - 7. Active Start targets skills such as running, jumping, catching, throwing, kicking, striking, balancing and body awareness. Volunteers provide one-to-one support to better enable the participants to succeed! This is a wonderful program to give clients the opportunity to gain valuable skills in movement and group settings.
