Volunteer will take part in activities with clients in the Adult Day Program, in a one-to-one capacity. Time is spent individually, within the larger group setting, with client doing puzzles, word searches, chatting and other activities.

-Set up for social activities in our Centre space  
-Tear down/lock up after social activities
Elliott Community (The)

• Provide companionship and social interaction to residents 
• Interact with the resident through conversation, reading, playing cards, etc. 
• Assist resident with small tasks such as opening mail, writing a letter or watering plants 
• Record who you visit and their level of interaction on the form provided by Recreationist

- Follow COVID safety protocols (must wear PPE, wash hands, sanitize frequently, clean surfaces, etc.) 
- Go through Food Market to see what items are running low on stock 
- With supervision, bring up additional food items from basement 
- Stock Shelves & move shelved product to the front of shelves 
- Portion items such as: 
- Bag toilet paper 
- Fill produce baskets with produce bags to make them ready for restocking 
- Bag rice or dry beans 
- Sort eggs in the walk-in cooler and put into empty half containers to put in Food Market for selection 
- Break down boxes 
- Do community members' shopping 
- Pack perishables and non-perishables for deliveries 
- Maintain tidy and organized work space 
- Assist with taking grocery orders as needed - language skills an asset 
- Follow health & safety protocols 
- Other duties as required, as in support the Breakfast Program
HOPE House

- Follow COVID safety protocols (must wear a mask & visor, wash hands sanitize frequently, clean surfaces, etc.) 
- Answer phones in a friendly fashion, take messages, redirect calls 
- Manage and book appointments 
- Connect Community Members with resources 
- Answer questions regarding HOPE House and other programs 
- Enter information into a computer database 
- Answer email, return phone calls 
- Other duties as assigned, as in support other volunteer teams and/or admin tasks 
- Language skills an asset

- Prepare approx 50 take- away breakfasts based on written instructions left by Chef (may include basic cooking) 
- Maintain Food Safety 
- Package breakfasts 
- Set table up outside to serve packaged brown paper bag breakfasts 
- Keep track of numbers of breakfasts made & served 
- Serve breakfast with a smile! *You will be outside 10-11 am serving - dress appropriately! 
- Clean up at end of service 
- Prep for the next day 
- Assist Chef as needed

What is the Travel Training program? 
• The Travel Training Program works to pair volunteers with adults living with disabilities looking to use the conventional transit system  
• All sessions are held in Guelph and are accessible by public transit 
 
What are the responsibilities of a Volunteer? 
• Volunteers will assist program participants in taking the conventional transit system. This includes boarding and exiting the bus, using transfers and creating a safe and supportive travel environment 
• Volunteers will ride a specific, pre-designated transit route with the program participant on a designated day of the week. (Stone Road Mall, grocery store etc.)  
• By providing your volunteer efforts, adults living with disabilities in the community are presented with an opportunity to increase their independence and confidence in a community engaged environment
