Connecting Circles: Virtual Conversations   Guelph
10C Shared Space
Virtual program
10C Connecting Circles will create safe opportunities for older adults and seniors to virtually connect with people in their community. These personal connections and content-based dialogues will reduce social isolation, and increase engagement, positively affecting the daily lives of senior (and intergenerational) participants.

Connecting Circles will run 3 days a week for 16 weeks: Mondays from 7pm-8pm, Wednesdays from 1pm-2pm and Thursday from 7pm-8pm. Each session is run as an individual event - We do not require you to be available for all 3 weekly sessions or for all 16 weeks, please indicate which days you are available.

We need volunteers to participate in weekly Connecting Circles, to encourage discussion and ensure every voice is being heard. Our weekly topics will range from gardening, cooking, volunteering, arts and culture, physical activity and much more!

Specifically we would love to have at least one volunteer present in all of our ‘breakout rooms’. This would involve acting as ‘host’, encouraging people to make connections and keeping the group on track (and aware of the time remaining).

The activities in each session's breakout room will differ, some may include a challenge, an open discussion, story/recipe sharing or even a collaboration. The volunteers’ job will be to keep the group on track, be the program facilitators main point of contact within the breakout room and most importantly try and make sure the breakout room is an inclusive positive experience for participants.

We want our volunteers to be active participants, share your ideas, make connections and take advantage of this intergenerational learning experience!!!
