Up and Running Guelph
Up and Running is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, with operations managed by a full-time Executive Director, and programs delivered by 40+ volunteers. In recent strategic planning processes, we identified growth, visibility, and sustainability as our goals for the next 3 years. Our 2022 priorities include: building a consistent funding structure; increasing and broadening participation in our programs; enhancing our marketing and communications; and cultivating relationships and building strategic partnerships with local organizations. 
We are currently recruiting for individuals with an interest in advancing our mission, and experience and/or expertise in Human Resources. Experience on a non-for-profit Board will be considered an asset, along with skills in fund development, grant writing, policy and procedure development, and an interest in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.  
Board commitments and responsibilities: 
- Serve in a volunteer capacity without remuneration 
- Commit to a two-year term (with the possibility of renewal) 
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a Board Director and become fully informed on organizational matters 
- Participate in the Board meetings regularly and be prepared to engage in meaningful debate, and reviewing the agenda and supporting materials prior to meetings (Our Board meets 10 times/year in the evening on the 3rd Monday of each month. Delayed one week in the case of holiday Mondays) 
- Evaluate and approve policy and other recommendations brought to the Board 
- Serve on one or more committees of the Board ((e.g. HR, fund development, marketing/communications, finance, or program) and/or assist with special projects as needed 
- Allocate an average of 6-8 hours per month to contribute to our hybrid operational/governance Board 
- Abide by the by-laws and policies that apply to our Board, and respect the confidentiality of organizational information and Board and Management decisions 
- Be an ambassador for Up and Running Guelph and its mission, and act in its best interests 
- Be informed of and strive to meet all applicable legal and fiduciary responsibilities 
- Participate in Up and Running’s fundraising and special events.

The Homewood Volunteer Association (HVA) is a registered charitable organization with a mission to support the quality of life of mental health and addiction patients at Homewood Health Centre. The Member-at-Large assists with the management of Association affairs and its governance and strategic direction. The Homewood Volunteer Association also operates the café and gift shop within the Homewood to serve patients and visitors. 
Member-at-Large attends monthly Board meetings as well as the annual general meeting; Commits to learn the Association and its functions and responsibilities within the health centre; Directs organizational operations, including policy development; Assists with management of projects undertaken by the Association; Assists with fund raising projects as needed; Commits to moving up into a suitable Board position as vacancies occur; Performs other Board tasks, as required.

An assigned elementary school in Guelph & Wellington County
The In-School Mentoring program provides youth with a role model and a friend to talk to and share the experiences of growing up. For one hour each week, mentors meet with their mentee and engage in fun activities such as board games, sports, crafts or just hang out during school hours at a local elementary school. 
The In-School Mentoring program requires a commitment of one-hour weekly visits plus additional transit time for the duration of the school year. Matches do not meet over the summer break or during other school holidays.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph, Mentoring Services for Children and Youth

A School-Based Group Leader will be a positive role model and mentor to a small group of youth in grades 5-8. Two volunteers will work together to facilitate a variety of planned group games and activities centered around the themes of mental wellness, physical health, and self confidence, which are provided to the volunteers in advance. Volunteers provide youth who are in need of support with a positive social environment, and build relationships with youth in order to express care and provide guidance.
Early ON Programs Volunteer   Guelph

Early ON Programs Volunteer work in-person at the Early ON Child and Family Centre in the Stone Road Mall directly with children and families. They assist in providing parents, caregivers and their children an opportunity to interact together in a fun and educational environment and provide resources or activities for participants. 
Based on skills, interest and need, this role may include:  
• Greet and welcome children and their parents/caregivers with dignity and respect 
• Assist program staff with set-up, running of program and clean-up 
• Interact with children in their play and/or parents in a warm friendly manner 
• Observe children’s play and assist with documentation 
• Assist parents and children as needed during the program 
• Notify program supervisors immediately if any problems or unusual situations occur 
• Attend training sessions and participate in volunteer meetings.  
GCHC Staff will work with volunteers and re-visit task list, working hours, working location regularly to ensure this is a meaningful and helpful role for both volunteers and staff. Based on Public Health requirements changes may need to be made on a short notice. Volunteers will be notified ASAP when these changes occur.

The Steering Committee runs the day to day operations of the Guelph Tool Library and is responsible for creating and administering sub-committees as the needs of the Guelph Tool Library requires. The Steering Committee works by consensus and each member of the Steering Committee has an equal say in the operation of the Guelph Tool Library.  
We are seeking a volunteer who is able to : 
-provide expert input to the ongoing development of the Guelph Tool Library 
-provide Human Resources expertise, to assist us in our charitable status application 
-identify and monitor priorities, risks, timelines and quality of Guelph Tool Library projects

WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed Program Peer Support Volunteer - SDG Good Health & Wellbeing   Guelph

Online Program
WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed program supports parents feeding human milk in any way, in any amount. Parents can receive support in two ways. One-to-one telephone support with trained and experienced parent-volunteers or weekly drop-in Breastfeeding & Chestfeed Cafes. Cafe is offered in an online format and is a great place for parents to socialize with other breastfeeding / chestfeeding families and get support with challenges. 
Become trained to offer support and lead group sessions providing feeding & parenting support to other parents. Keep logs of supporting, track hours, remain in good communication with the program coordinator. 
IMPORTANT Information:  
Volunteers in this role are required to have had breastfeed or chestfeeding experience. Please consider joining this program as an administrative support or in a health promotion role if you do not have breast or chest feeding experience.  
Guelph CHC acknowledges the importance of Peer-led work and offers 20 hours of training for this position but also ask for a minimum 6 month commitment. 
One of our strategic aims to build capacity in our community. Volunteers in this role must have a connection to Guelph.

Guelph and Area Right to Life is currently looking for helpline volunteers who would be responsible for receiving calls over a week-long period every month.  
Calls are typically from women in crisis pregnancy situations seeking information and support.  
Interested individuals should be empathetic, have a willingness to learn about the resources of Guelph and the surrounding areas and should demonstrate compassion.

A volunteer Big Brother will be a positive role model and mentor to a child (Little Brother). Volunteers will see their Little Brother on a consistent basis, usually once a week. The volunteer and child will participate in fun activities such as sports, biking, games, watching movies, building models, etc. Volunteers and children are matched based on interests, location and age preference.

Each volunteer mentor is paired with two carefully matched mentees (Rhyze Ventures clients) that considers their program stream, business stage, industry, goals, learning styles, and personality factors.

Work with one other volunteer with small groups of boys or girls for one hour per week for 7 weeks. Each week has a topic and suggested games and activities to do with the children. Topics support healthy lifestyle choices, self compassion, nutrition, active living and much more.
