Virtual Coach - Online Child Mentor   Centre Wellington  East Wellington  Guelph  North Wellington  South Wellington 
Start2Finish, Guelph, Running & Reading Club
Connecting online, twice a week for 30 minutes, with a group of 8-10 kids. Programming includes literacy, social-emotional learning, and fitness. All programming is provided by Start2Finish, and facilitated by you and your volunteer partner. 
 
Time slots available: 
1. Tuesdays & Wednesdays 4-4:30pm OR 4:30-5pm 
2. Tuesdays & Thursdays 4-4:30pm OR 4:30-5pm

Volunteers mentor children ages 5-12 and youth ages 13 and older by providing support, guidance and a listening ear. Volunteers assist with; spending one on one time with the special friend, taking them on community outings, helping them with homework, and providing them with a safe place to talk about personal issues. 
 
Male volunteers needed to provide one-to-one support and mentoring to boys who require a positive relationship with a positive male role-model.

A mentor spends one-on-one time with a child ages 5-12 and is a positive role-model and provides support, guidance and a listening ear. This position is also responsible to plan weekly activities and engage in positive recreational and enriching activities in the community. The volunteer provides the child with opportunities that the child would otherwise not have access to.

Youth Mentors provide one-to-one support to youth (ages 13 and older) with everyday life issues and conflicts and stresses (school, peers, family etc) by spending one-on-one time with them and providing guidance, a listening ear, advocacy and care. The youth might require support with school, advocacy with housing and agency's etc.

WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed program supports parents feeding human milk in any way, in any amount. Parents can receive support in two ways. One-to-one telephone support with trained and experienced parent-volunteers or weekly drop-in Breastfeeding & Chestfeed Cafes. Cafe is offered in an online format and is a great place for parents to socialize with other breastfeeding / chestfeeding families and get support with challenges. 
 
Become trained to offer support and lead group sessions providing feeding & parenting support to other parents. Keep logs of supporting, track hours, remain in good communication with the program coordinator. 
 
 
IMPORTANT Information:  
 
Volunteers in this role are required to have had breastfeed or chestfeeding experience. Please consider joining this program as an administrative support or in a health promotion role if you do not have breast or chest feeding experience.  
 
Guelph CHC acknowledges the importance of Peer-led work and offers 20 hours of training for this position but also ask for a minimum 6 month commitment. 
 
One of our strategic aims to build capacity in our community. Volunteers in this role must have a connection to Guelph.
Bereaved Families of Ontario - Midwestern Region
All of our grief support groups are facilitated by volunteers who are themselves bereaved, and offer a unique compassion and empathetic understanding of grief and grief support to our program members. Individuals will complete our 20-hour facilitator training with a strong understanding of peer support, and gain the skills and confidence required to facilitate individuals in a group setting. 
 
We have an urgent need for facilitators for our programs for parents grieving the death of an infant and Living with Loss for adults grieving a death by substance use.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph, Mentoring Services for Children and Youth
Guelph and Wellington County
An Online Group Leader will be a positive role model and mentor to a small group of youth in grades 5-8. Two volunteers will work together to facilitate a variety of planned group games involving social skills and physical skills, which are provided to the volunteers in advance. Volunteers provide youth who are in need of support with a positive social environment, and build relationships with youth in order to express care and provide guidance.

Guelph and Area Right to Life is currently looking for helpline volunteers who would be responsible for receiving calls over a week-long period every month.  
 
Calls are typically from women in crisis pregnancy situations seeking information and support.  
 
Interested individuals should be empathetic, have a willingness to learn about the resources of Guelph and the surrounding areas and should demonstrate compassion.

As an online Big Brother, you will be a positive role model and mentor to a young person.  
 
Volunteers have visits with their "Little" on a consistent basis, usually once a week.  
 
Volunteers invest time and attention into a child who faces adversity, build a friendship with them, and develop trust and respect. This could mean playing online games with them, engaging in a conversation about what's on their mind, doing virtual workouts together, cooking, or any other type of activity that will engage a child and draw out their personality and interests.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, Mentoring Services for Children and Youth
Work with one other volunteer with small groups of boys or girls for one hour per week for 7 weeks. Each week has a topic and suggested games and activities to do with the children. Topics support healthy lifestyle choices, self compassion, nutrition, active living and much more.

A volunteer Big Brother will be a positive role model and mentor to a child (Little Brother). Volunteers will see their Little Brother on a consistent basis, usually once a week. The volunteer and child will participate in fun activities such as sports, biking, games, watching movies, building models, etc. Volunteers and children are matched based on interests, location and age preference.
