Volunteers will greet patients, visitors and other customers in a friendly manner and suggest gift ideas and offer assistance. You will process sales (cash, credit card, debit), check the card display to ensure everything is in appropriate spaces and restock it when necessary. You will also count the float and cash at the beginning and end of your shift and record complaints, concerns and compliments that require follow up from the Manager. Occasionally assisting with other duties, such as inventory, to keep the gift shop running efficiently.

Call to Action: We are looking to recruit people with lived experience and allies of the LGBTQ+ Community to volunteer on our new LGBTQ+ Support Line to be launched in the Fall of 2021. Volunteers in the program may also choose to volunteer for our other lines as well.
Duties of the role include:
• Write notes summarizing completed phone calls Engage in a variety of phone calls (social calls, safety checks, wellness checks, medication reminders, and distress line calls) to support community members experiencing isolation and/or distress
• Provide emotional support and referrals to community services as needed

WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed Program Peer Support Volunteer

WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed program supports parents feeding human milk in any way, in any amount. Parents can receive support in two ways. One-to-one telephone support with trained and experienced parent-volunteers or weekly drop-in Breastfeeding & Chestfeed Cafes. Cafe is offered in an online format and is a great place for parents to socialize with other breastfeeding / chestfeeding families and get support with challenges.
Become trained to offer support and lead group sessions providing feeding & parenting support to other parents. Keep logs of supporting, track hours, remain in good communication with the program coordinator.
Volunteers in this role are required to have had breastfeed or chestfeeding experience. Please consider joining this program as an administrative support or in a health promotion role if you do not have breast or chest feeding experience.
Guelph CHC acknowledges the importance of Peer-led work and offers 20 hours of training for this position but also ask for a minimum 6 month commitment.
