The Recreation Therapy and Volunteer Services teams are re-imagining yet another tradition for 2020--our Christmas morning gift bags for our clients.  
 
We are hoping community crafters will help us make a total of 300+ Christmas brooches with individual volunteers each making approx. 10-15 brooches. Volunteers are asked to register with Volunteer Services for further details.

The volunteer will greet and serve patients, visitors and other customers in a friendly manner. You will also handle cash sales and count the float before and after your shift. In addition, you will ensure all food and drink products are stocked and tidy, and record complaints, concerns and compliments that require follow up from the Manager. Occasionally assisting with other duties as assigned.

You will process sales (cash, credit card, debit), check the card display to ensure everything is in appropriate spaces and restock it when necessary. Occasionally assisting with other duties, such as inventory, to keep the gift shop running efficiently.

Many of our peer supported programs like Yoga, Zumba and Mindfulness have moved to a virtual platform! Volunteers are needed to assist staff and program leaders with providing online programs or assist clients with one-to-one support in getting connected. This role may include: offering basic tech support, assist with creating email address, software support or loading platforms.  
 
Volunteers in this role are required to have a good understanding of online meetings and tech problem solving skills. Tech training is not provided. Agency orientation and support are provided.  
 
Volunteers must have access to a computer and internet.

Are you a stroke survivor or care partner? Our hospital peer visitors visit new stroke survivors within the hospital environment providing help with recovery by providing hope, hands-on-tangible knowledge to manage the emotional and physical stages of stroke using hope, optimism and encouragement. We are currently recruiting for Grand River Hospital-KW Site, Grand River Hospital-Freeport Site, Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Guelph General Hospital and St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph.

WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed program supports parents feeding human milk in any way, in any amount. Parents can receive support in two ways. One-to-one telephone support with trained and experienced parent-volunteers or weekly drop-in Breastfeeding & Chestfeed Cafes. Cafe is offered in an online format and is a great place for parents to socialize with other breastfeeding / chestfeeding families and get support with challenges. 
 
Become trained to offer support and lead group sessions providing feeding & parenting support to other parents. Keep logs of supporting, track hours, remain in good communication with the program coordinator. 
 
 
IMPORTANT Information:  
 
Volunteers in this role are required to have had breastfeed or chestfeeding experience. Please consider joining this program as an administrative support or in a health promotion role if you do not have breast or chest feeding experience.  
 
Guelph CHC acknowledges the importance of Peer-led work and offers 20 hours of training for this position but also ask for a minimum 6 month commitment. 
 
One of our strategic aims to build capacity in our community. Volunteers in this role must have a connection to Guelph.

Guelph CHC's program, WE Breastfeed and Chestfeed supports parents feeding human milk in any way, in any amount. Parents can receive support in two ways. One-to-one telephone support with trained and experienced parent-volunteers or weekly online Breastfeeding Cafes. 
 
Administrative support volunteers work with the program coordinator and support data collection, scheduling volunteers, program evaluation entry, assist with digital marketing plan development and distribution of promotional material. 
 
This would be a great role for someone who is interested in learning more about breast or chestfeeding, program coordination and promotion or needs to get their 40 OSSD hours.  
 
IMPORTANT information: Volunteers in this role do not need breast or chestfeeding experience. They do need to have an enthusiastic and positive attitude towards breast or chestfeeding and human milk.

Safely transporting VON clients to appointments with volunteer vehicle. Volunteer goes to door upon arrival and ensure client gets into destination facility.  
 
Volunteer drivers are needed for clients in Guelph and Wellington County.

The chairperson supports the delivery of group meetings by leading structured discussions and creating an open and supportive environment in which people feel comfortable to share personal stories, advice, and/or ideas about recovery.  
 
The chairperson is part of the volunteer committee, and thus represents all participants as a member of the March of Dimes Canada (MODC) After Stroke volunteer team. The chairperson makes ethically sound decisions based on through understanding of the goals for each meetings, the peer support group, and MODC After Stroke values.  
This role can be held by a caregiver, stroke survivor and family members.

These programs provide support to community members 55+ who wish to improve their strength, balance and flexibility regardless of there current ability level.
