Grocery and convenience stores throughout Guelph-Wellington
How much does food cost? How is food promoted? Volunteer with Our Food Future project by helping with collecting food data in grocery and convenience stores. This project will help to inform community-based actions to increase access to affordable, nutritious food for everyone in Guelph-Wellington County. 
The Our Food Future ( project is working toward a circular food economy in Guelph-Wellington. One of its goals is a 50% increase in access to affordable, nutritious food by 2025. To inform how we can reach this goal, the Nutritious Food Workstream of Our Food Future is currently collecting information to understand the local food environment and how it shapes what we buy and eat. 
• Complete 4-6 audits of grocery and/or convenience stores in Guelph-Wellington 
• Communicate with the Nutritious Food Workstream Research and Planning Associate to schedule audits 
• Pick up and drop off audit sheet at the Guelph CHC front desk 
• Attend training session and log volunteer hours 
• Have fun! 
Skills Required:  
• Basic nutrition knowledge and food purchasing skills 
• Previous experience shopping for food in a grocery store 
• Reading, writing, and numeracy 
• Self-motivated and able to work independently 
• Attention to detail 
• Positive attitude and reliable 
*** Special note: This role can be done in teams of 2.
Homewood Health Centre
Under the supervision of the Recreation Therapy staff, volunteers assist in organizing and participating in recreational activities to contribute to patient well-being. Activities may include, volleyball, shuffleboard, pickle ball or group board games. Volunteer are required to provide a supportive environment and encourage patients to take part in the activities. This position requires a regular weekly commitment.

The volunteer will greet and serve patients, visitors and other customers in a friendly manner. You will also handle cash sales and count the float before and after your shift. In addition, you will ensure all food and drink products are stocked and tidy, and record complaints, concerns and compliments that require follow up from the Manager. Occasionally assisting with other duties as assigned.

Volunteers observe and monitor Eating Disorders Program patients during and post mealtimes to contribute to the patient well being. Follow guidelines as established by the Eating Disorders Program staff. Contribute to a helping supportive atmosphere for patients. Report patients' intake. Socialize with patient group during post meal supervision based on therapeutic principles. This position requires a regular weekly commitment.

- Portering residents from their home area to the outdoor courtyard for walks, weather permitting. 
- visiting with residents in designated areas when outdoor walks is not possible.

Safely transporting VON clients to appointments with volunteer vehicle. Volunteer goes to door upon arrival and ensure client gets into destination facility.  
Volunteer drivers are needed for clients in Guelph and Wellington County.

Are you a stroke survivor or care partner? Our hospital peer visitors visit new stroke survivors within the hospital environment providing help with recovery by providing hope, hands-on-tangible knowledge to manage the emotional and physical stages of stroke using hope, optimism and encouragement. We are currently recruiting for Grand River Hospital-KW Site, Grand River Hospital-Freeport Site, Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Guelph General Hospital and St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph.

WE Breastfeed & Chestfeed program supports parents feeding human milk in any way, in any amount. Parents can receive support in two ways. One-to-one telephone support with trained and experienced parent-volunteers or weekly drop-in Breastfeeding & Chestfeed Cafes. Cafe is offered in an online format and is a great place for parents to socialize with other breastfeeding / chestfeeding families and get support with challenges. 
Become trained to offer support and lead group sessions providing feeding & parenting support to other parents. Keep logs of supporting, track hours, remain in good communication with the program coordinator. 
IMPORTANT Information:  
Volunteers in this role are required to have had breastfeed or chestfeeding experience. Please consider joining this program as an administrative support or in a health promotion role if you do not have breast or chest feeding experience.  
Guelph CHC acknowledges the importance of Peer-led work and offers 20 hours of training for this position but also ask for a minimum 6 month commitment. 
One of our strategic aims to build capacity in our community. Volunteers in this role must have a connection to Guelph.

The chairperson supports the delivery of group meetings by leading structured discussions and creating an open and supportive environment in which people feel comfortable to share personal stories, advice, and/or ideas about recovery.  
The chairperson is part of the volunteer committee, and thus represents all participants as a member of the March of Dimes Canada (MODC) After Stroke volunteer team. The chairperson makes ethically sound decisions based on through understanding of the goals for each meetings, the peer support group, and MODC After Stroke values.  
This role can be held by a caregiver, stroke survivor and family members.

Waterloo Wellington After Stroke program is recruiting volunteers that would support survivors and their families by providing monthly and yearly activities which encourages shared knowledge and guide stroke survives to re-engage back into community activities.
