This year's run will be benefiting the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington, inspiring and supporting women to achieve the quality of life they desire. Together we can provide hope to women and raise funds for better mental health care. 
 
Great races don't happen without great volunteers! Join our SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Run for Women volunteer team and help make a difference in the lives of women across Canada. We welcome volunteers of all genders! There are lots of ways to get involved both before the race and on race day. We need help with:

Volunteers observe and monitor Eating Disorders Program patients during and post mealtimes to contribute to the patient well being. Follow guidelines as established by the Eating Disorders Program staff. Contribute to a helping supportive atmosphere for patients. Report patients' intake. Socialize with patient group during post meal supervision based on therapeutic principles. This position requires a regular weekly commitment.

- Orientation- Reorienting patient to time, date and place as assigned  
- Feeding Assistance- meal assistance and companionship 
- Early Mobilization- assistance with walking and simple exercises 
- Therapeutic Activities- activities to keep patients mentally stimulated during hospital stay 
- Relaxation/Sleep Enhancement- provide a variety of relaxation exercises to promote sleep

In the Post-Donation Hospitality Area, volunteers will ensure that the hospitality area is inviting, orderly and welcoming for all donors, welcome donors to hospitality area and ensure they are offered refreshment items; observe donors and immediately alert clinic staff of adverse reactions; provide donors with organizational updates and information on Canadian Blood Services’ programs and activities; respond to donor concerns by addressing their questions or complaints or directing to the appropriate staff and invite donors to complete the donor feedback card; thank donors before they leave and invite them to book their next appointment if they have not already done so; provide donors achieving milestones with appropriate donor recognition item;

Our hospital peer visitors visit new stroke survivors within the hospital environment providing help with recovery by providing hope, hands-on-tangible knowledge to manage the emotional and physical stages of stroke using hope, optimism and encouragement. We are currently recruiting for Grand River Hospital-KW Site, Grand River Hospital-Freeport Site, Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Guelph General Hospital and St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph.

Facilitated by a certified music therapist, Generations Sing will bring together long term care residents and youth (age 14-24) through a shared love of music. On a typical shift volunteers will assist residents to the program space, pushing wheelchair or walking alongside residents in our hallways. During the program volunteers will engage with the residents through conversation and song creating a positive and supportive environment for all. 
 
We are seeking youth whom enjoy music would like to gain an enhanced understanding and appreciation of an older generation. Volunteers will also gain exposure to the health care environment.

• Visit with patients prior to and after scan, especially if they are alone. 
• Receive each patient by name (if possible) in a welcoming manner.  
Take their information sheets from them and usher them to waiting room. 
• Give the consent form to the patient to read  
• Inform patients where they can keep their clothing during the scan 
• Make sure patient is dressed properly for their scan (ie: proper clothing/jewellery removed)  
• Check to see if a patient who is waiting in a gown for any length of time is cold and get a warm blanket if necessary. 
• Keep waiting room, change cubicles, stretchers tidy.  
• Keep ample supply of gowns, pens, paper, etc., at request of staff

• Assist in re-stocking the change cubicles with clean gowns as requested by staff

March of Dimes Canada is looking for stroke survivors and caregivers for their After Stroke programs and services. Linking Survivors with Survivors is a hospital visitation program where peer mentors visit stroke survivor patients providing knowledge, hope and community resources.  
 
Current positions available at all stroke units of St Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph and Guelph General Hospital. This volunteer position fits with your rehabilitation and family schedule. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity why not continue your rehabilitation while visiting and helping other survivors.

Waterloo Wellington After Stroke program is recruiting volunteers that would support survivors and their families by providing monthly and yearly activities which encourages shared knowledge and guide stroke survives to re-engage back into community activities.

Volunteers will assist the residents whom live at the Health Centre to attend various recreation programs, which are planned and lead by the Recreation staff. Volunteers will assist residents to the program space, engage with the residents through conversation and motivating them to participate or enjoy the environment. Volunteers are the extra support for the staff and can provide 1:1 attention with the residents.

Duties include escort/porter residents to and from dining area, provide supervision and verbal cueing for residents requiring direction, provide hand-over-hand assistance for residents requiring physical assistance, offer nourishment to residents requiring feeding, promote social involvement and self-confidence, clean up after resident and offer resident a hot cloth for the hands and face, and record resident’s intake on the nutrition form as required.
