Duties | Up and Running delivers friendly, supportive running and walking programs that share the mental health benefits of exercise, nature and social connections with women looking to improve their mental health and well-being. Running mentors are responsible for participating in our group running programs, supporting the coaching staff, encouraging and making connections with participants, and providing feedback to coaches re: the program. Mentors support programs for women with mental health challenges (such as mild to moderate anxiety and depression) and are expected to be sensitive to these challenges, and adhere to Up and Running’s confidentiality agreement. All of our programs are delivered outside on trails in a downtown park (and on sidewalks for our evening winter programs) to enable participants to enjoy the benefits of nature in a safe, community space. We celebrate our participants getting outside and moving, rather than going faster and further, and adhere to the principle: "No one left behind". | |||
