Duties | Developed to address the needs of newcomer children and youth in Guelph & Wellington County, Frontier College virtual tutors work 1:1 or 1:2 via Zoom helping with math, science, reading & writing. In partnership with Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington, this virtual homework club program will involve approximately 12-15 registered learners paired with an individual tutor who will support them with completing their school assignments as well as provide supplementary literacy and numeracy support. Our spring session will run from the beginning of May until the end of June. Frontier College and Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington run virtual newcomer homework support programs on Monday afternoons from 4:45pm-6:15pm (learners in grades 2-4) between May 9 and June 27 (no program on May 23 due to the Victoria Day long weekend). and Tuesdays from 4:15pm-5:45pm (learners in grades 5-8) between May 10 and June 21. We have a high need for new volunteer tutors for both programs. Volunteers are only asked to support one program/week. | |||
