DutiesVolunteers are needed to participate in weekly relationship-building activities with the residents of The Salvation Army’s New Directions and Stonehenge’s Therapeutic Community. Sample activities include fitness activities, interactive games, art and information sessions. Volunteers must have a good understanding of personal boundaries and be willing to work in a flexible environment. Goal of the program is to work with the men and support them in reintegration in the community.

TrainingOrientation ; Training is provided ; Training is required ; 12-hour training over four days, plus an agency orientation, is required. Training provides volunteers with an overview of issues and challenges faced by federally sentenced men, those battling with addictions, the federal justice system, and reintegration issues that men face upon release. A willingness to be non-judgmental, committed, and caring are assets. There is a $25.00 fee for this training to cover manual(s) costs. On-going in-service training will also be provided. New volunteers will be mentored by existing volunteers.
