DutiesThe volunteer will operate the Elliott bus and drive residents to and from the desired destination in a safe manner. You will also greet residents in a friendly manner, assist all residents on and off the bus and, when needed, use the wheelchair lift.

Skills/ExperienceConfidentiality ; Customer Service ; Self-Motivated / Work Independently ; - Drivers require a valid Ontario license (minimum F class), insurance, and submit a driver’s abstract (at the expense of The Elliott Community). The Elliott Community will take into consideration the number of demerit points and/or nature of any infractions to determine if it meets our requirements  
- Must renew driver’s abstract every year (at the expense of The Elliott Community)  
- Must be comfortable interacting with others  
- Ability to work independently after initial training  
- Dependable, enthusiastic and patient
Commitment LengthShort Term (Up to 4 months) - At least a 3 month commitment is required, but volunteers are welcome to commit to a longer period of time. ; Medium Term (4 months to 1 year) ; Long Term (More than 1 year)
Interaction LevelSmall Group - Direct interaction with seniors and staff members.

- Shadow an experienced volunteer/staff prior to beginning independent outings  
- Ongoing on-the-job training will be provided as necessary

Cost- Cost of 2 Step TB Test. The cost of the TB test is not covered by The Elliott Community, however, if a volunteer completes over 100 hours of volunteering at The Elliott Community, The Elliott Community will issue a refund up to $50.00 towards the cost of the TB Test if the following conditions are met:  
- Submission of proof of the negative Tuberculin Skin Test  
- Submission of proof of payment from the Public Health Unit or doctor’s office, and  
- Completion of 100 hours of volunteering at The Elliott Community
