DutiesAccessing food at this time can be challenging for those most deeply affected by COVID-19. Vulnerable seniors, people with low-income, families with children and people with health challenges may have barriers to getting to, accessing (not able to bring children into facility) or getting their food home from emergency food providers.
Food Access Volunteers play a very important role by linking community members to the food they need. This in-person role includes pick-up of hampers/boxes from emergency food providers, food cupboards or food banks and delivery the food to Guelph CHC clients.
Pick-ups and deliveries are made within the the City of Guelph. Deliveries are to the door only, volunteers are not required to enter homes.
This position requires volunteers to have access to a vehicle and be able to lift 20 to 30 lbs. Mileage fees are provided.
This role is immensely helpful for both clients and staff. At this time GCHC Staff are helping with this need. Having volunteers means that our staff can better focus on connecting clients with other needs they may have.
