Duties* 1 on 1 Conversation Practice partners help newcomers and new immigrants integrate into the community at large through conversation practice and community participation.  
* Volunteers will meet their Conversation Practice Partner in the community at agreed times and locations and provide opportunities for community engagement and conversation practice.  
* Activities should be reflective of the needs of the newcomer but can include: discussing and touring major points of interest in the city, participating in community life and events (shopping at market, skating, meet for coffee), talking about daily living (transportation, daycare, accessing community services), meeting at a local library branch to discuss interesting current events, look at newspaper articles together and use library resources.  
* In addition, 1-on-1 Conversation Practice requires volunteers to fill out a short tracking sheet for submission after each meeting.

ESL or adult teaching experience would be an asset.
Commitment LengthShort Term (Up to 4 months) - 2 hours per week for 12 weeks (1 Client) ; This is a program that runs all year around. The commitment will be up to 12 weeks min. to complete the process with 1 client. The program will be starting at the convenience of the Volunteer and the client schedule.
Interaction LevelOne-on-one ; Volunteers will support newcomers to Canada with different levels of English proficiency through 1-on-1 conversation practice.

Dates and TimesTiming is flexible and is arranged on a mutually convenient basis, according to the volunteer and participant's convenience.

AccessibilityUnknown - Dependent on community location. ; Usually, the volunteer will meet the client at a public place, located on their convenient place. We recommend Public Libraries, Community Centre.
