DutiesVolunteers are needed to facilitate the VON SMART (seniors maintaining active roles together) In-home Exercise Program and the VON SMART Group Exercise Program. These programs provide support to community members 55+ who wish to improve their strength, balance and flexibility regardless of there current ability level.

BenefitsTraining in First Aid and CPR provided by VON at no cost. An opportunity to be involved in the community, make a difference in someone's life and promote and encourage others to become physically able through exercise and recreation.
ClientsThe VON Canada SMART (seniors maintaining active roles together) program provides support to community members 55+ who wish to improve their strength, balance and flexibility regardless of there current ability level.

Commitment LengthMedium Term (4 months to 1 year) - A commitment of 6 months is preferred ; Your commitment of one hour per week or more is flexible and you can decide how much time you want to volunteer depending on your schedule.

TrainingOrientation ; Scheduled training ; Volunteers receive training from VON to lead classes using the International Curriculum Guidelines, for Preparing Physical Activity Instructors of Older Adults, developed by the International Society for Aging and Physical Activity and the World Health Organization. Volunteers receive training support including CPR and First Aid provided by VON at no cost.
TransportationVolunteers must provide own transportation.
