Duties | Volunteers shovel snow (including the accumulation of snow left at the end of driveways when the streets are plowed) following a heavy snowfall for senior and/or individuals living with a physical disability. | |||

Benefits | This is an opportunity to assist a senior (65 years or older) and/or a person with a physical disability. It is also a great way to give back to the community, build character and earn community service hours for high school graduation. Enjoy fresh air and exercise! | |||
Clients | Residents of Guelph who are seniors (65 years or older) and/or have a physically disability and therefore unable to shovel. Eligible residents cannot afford to pay for snow removal and have no able bodied person living in the household able to shovel. | |||

Skills/Experience | Confidentiality ; Self-Motivated / Work Independently ; Volunteers must be physically able to shovel snow. | |||
Commitment Length | Short Term (Up to 4 months) ; The commitment required is dependent on the number of significant snow events in a winter season. A commitment of one winter season is preferred. A volunteer must commit to clear snow at a minimum of one driveway, however a person can commit to more driveways if desired. | |||
Interaction Level | Solitary ; It is not required for the volunteer to interact with the resident. | |||
Dates and Times | Volunteers have 24 hours to clear the windrow following the end of a significant snowfall, defined by the City of Guelph to be 10 cm accumulation. | |||

Transportation | PIN The People and Information Network will aim to match volunteers and residents within the same neighbourhood however, if the volunteer has a vehicle and is willing to travel we will consider a broader geographic area. | |||
