Duties

Volunteers will assist instructors during dance, music, theatre, yoga, mindfulness and visual arts classes, and provide supervision and assistance to campers during breaks.

Skills/Experience

Volunteers should have an interest in working with children and willing and able to be physically active and give and follow directions. Volunteers must be 14 years of age minimum or going into grade 9.

This is a high energy group, volunteers will have the opportunity to to engage with campers, exercise leadership skills, be creative and encourage creativity, lead games and activities, support teaching artists and build relationship with campers, peers and instructors.

Creativity, good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills are considered an asset. Preference given to individuals with experience working with children, working in a team environment and basic First Aid.

While preference will be given to people who can commit volunteering to a full week long session, Guelph Dance will also accept those who can only commit to certain days (3 day minimum commitment). Volunteers are needed from either 8:30-3:30 pm or 9:30-4:30 pm. Friday until 4:30pm.

Additional Requirements

Volunteers will spend time outside with the children during lunch breaks, weather appropriate clothing is required. Volunteers will need to bring/wear comfortable clothing and bring their own lunch and drinks (nut-free please).

A police check is required for Leaders over the age of 18. These checks must be obtained from the Guelph Police in advance of camps. The police checks are free to volunteers.

Follow COVID safety protocols and Public Health guidelines in place at the time of camp.
