Duties | Help organize a world class, multicultural festival that offers Guelph & surrounding communities an affordable & accessible multi-faceted cultural experience. The Guelph and District Multicultural Festival had its beginnings as a small downtown event in 1978. It has since moved to Riverside Park, attendance has increased from 2,000 to 25,000 people and generates cultural awareness and funding for local community groups, as well as foster economic development in Guelph and beyond. The Guelph & District Multicultural Festival relies heavily on an enthusiastic group of volunteers. Due to Covid-19, our organization has evolved beyond just a 3-day Festival. We now have several different positions that focus on ensuring our ethnic communities and youth group are engaged. We strongly believe it is through these engagements we can create a culturally diverse and inclusive community. Stage Management Support volunteers are required to greet performers to help coordinate and assist them as needed. The volunteer will coordinate with the sound and stage technicians and help set up the stage for each performance. This role will also require someone comfortable and confident with public speaking as the volunteer will be acting as an MC and introducing each act to the audience. It is also essential to have good time management skills, as you will need to follow the schedule and help ensure all performances are on time. GDMF is committed Inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility are all values that we hold dear. We seek to provide an environment that allows all participants to thrive. We encourage applications from people of all races, ethnicities, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. | |||
