Duties

The Learning Disabilities Association of Wellington County is looking for positive role models for our Reading Rocks program. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in working with children as a career goal or who is already working with children.

In this volunteer role you will be matched with a child aged 6-12 who has a learning disability or who is a struggling reader, helping them with reading skills. Training will be provided, along with lots of fun and interactive materials to help you engage your student. We will provide proof of volunteers hours as requested.

Commitment Length

Short Term (Up to 4 months) - 8 week program ; The program is twice a week for one hour each day. M-Thursday shifts available. All virtual for this 8 week session.

Training

Orientation ; Training is provided - Most training is done online in your own time ; Training is required ; Scheduled training - There will be a training with a facilitator the week prior to session start date to ensure everyone is ready and to answer questions. ; We will also provide ongoing support to volunteers as needed. You are never left alone!

Volunteers must have reliable and secure high-speed internet access, a laptop, a microphone, speakers and a webcam. Headphones are recommended.
