Description (Service) | Promotes awareness and raises funds through different activities, sponsorships and donations, in support of African grandmothers caring for their AIDS/HIV orphaned grandchildren * all proceeds donated to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of The Stephen Lewis Foundation * advocates to better understand and sustain the work to combat AIDS in Africa * over 250 Canadian Chapters of the Campaign within Stephen Lewis Foundation * Griots storytellers visit Guelph / Wellington primary schools with permission of the school boards to tell traditional stories, promote awareness and answer questions about the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign * 4Gs Cookbook, Loving Hands: Recipes and Reflections **Term 'griots' is the common word for grandmother in many African countries **Term 'gogo' is the Zulu word for grandmother; it is used to show solidarity with the African grandmothers **Guelph chapter has raised $450,000 since 2006 |
