Description (Service) | COVID-19 Update: The Seed is launching an Emergency Food Home Delivery program to support community members most affected by the pandemic situation and who are experiencing the greatest need for emergency food (seniors, people with low-income and/or health and mobility challenges). Food delivered will include prepared meals, fresh foods, and high nutrition non-refrigerated food products. Clients are currently direct referrals from Guelph Community Health Centre health providers.The program will be scaled up over the coming months to serve a wider number of community members. Community food project of the Guelph Community Health Centre with a goal to eliminate food insecurity by offering programs and services that tackle the root causes of poverty. Support is provided by community members, volunteers and many partner organizations. * Good Food Distribution - partners with local schools and emergency food providers to increase the amount of fresh food available * Garden Fresh Box- monthly affordable food box program * Community Food Markets - sliding-scale prices and community space * Fresh Food Prescriptions- piloting food as medicine * Good Food Work Experience - programming and employment opportunities for youth * Guelph Youth Farm- urban farming project in partnership with St Joseph's Health Centre and Everdale * Souper Heroes - volunteer fundraising and community building around food * Upcycle Kitchen - diverting food waste into healthy value added products and meals |
Hours | COVID-19 -- Regular Community Food Markets are closed until further notice. In their place, an open-air back-of-the-truck Outdoor Fresh Food Market is operating each Fri 10 am-1 pm (Wyndham St Parking Lot, next to Guelph Concert Theatre, 152 Wyndham St N). **All COVID-19 health and safety requirements are observed (physical distancing, sanitized surfaces, and hand cleaning).
