Description (Agency) Information, path-finding and referral services on foreign credential recognition to assist internationally trained and educated individuals.
Description (Service) Services offered overseas and in Canada. Service Canada centres provide in-person services:  
* information on credential assessment  
* help to identify appropriate regulatory and assessment body  
* job-related information about specific occupations 
 
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA): mandatory requirement that Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) principal applicants have their non-Canadian education assessed against education standards in Canada by designated organizations. Designated organizations are: Comparative Education Service, University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies ; International Credential Assessment Service of Canada ; World Education Services ; Medical Council of Canada (for those principal applicants who intend to apply with specialist physician or general practitioner / family physician as the primary occupation in the FSWP application) 
 
For regulated occupations, recognition of qualifications is determined by the appropriate provincial or territorial regulatory body. Regulated professions set their own standards of practice that may vary from province to province. For non-regulated occupations, recognition is normally at the discretion of the employer.
