Description & Services
Description (Agency) National literacy organization that works with volunteers and community partners to give people the skills and confidence needed to reach their potential. Recruits, screens, trains and matches volunteers to work with children, youth and adults. Also assists other community-based organizations to set up and run literacy programs for their own participants.
Description (Service) Literacy and homework support programs provide recruitment and training of volunteers and ongoing support. 
 
Programs in Guelph include: 
* Reading Circles (Priory Park PS) 
* Homework Club (West End Community Centre, Westwood PS, Tytler PS) 
* After School Program (John Galt PS, Westwood PS) 
* Number Ninjas Math Skills Program (Brant Avenue PS) 
 
Volunteer tutors spend 1-2 hours each week reading with a child / youth, helping with homework or doing other literacy-related activities. Programs are organized and coordinated through a student-led Organizational Team and supported by a Frontier College staff person. Volunteers do not need to be students to get involved. 
 
Conferences, training sessions, idea exchanges and networking opportunities are organized in various locations to offer professional development and bring together community partners.
