The Centre operates under the care of the Jesuits of Canada.
|Description (Service)||COVID-19 Update: Ignatius Jesuit Centre has limited volunteer opportunities at this time -- visit website if interested in general information about volunteering.
The Centre is home to:
* Loyola House: Retreat house for silent retreats and training in Ignatian spirituality; venue for external retreats, business conferences, meetings, and special events.
* Ignatius Farm: Certified organic vegetable farm that operates on a Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) model, building relationships between farmers and consumers. Rents out farm acreage and community garden plots, trains new farmers in the practices and principles of organic agriculture. Also invites people to get involved in their local farm through purchasing CSA vegetable shares. Members purchase shares and pick up their portion of the harvest throughout the season.
* Ignatius Old-Growth Forest: A 500-year ecological restoration project that offers a setting for people of all ages to engage, learn and connect with the natural world through walking trails, education programs, work placements, and community activity days; located on 100 acres and protected from development under a conservation easement with Ontario Farmland Trust.
