Public Comments The TeleCheck-Dufferin program is also offered, a daily call-out check-in service that supports the safety of older adults who wish to live independently in their homes. Calls are delivered Mon-Sun, beginning at 8.30 am, including statutory holidays, by a team of volunteers and staff.

Description (Agency) Telephone listening service providing support for community members experiencing life challenges.
Description (Service) Compassionate active listening and response for people who may be feeling isolated or confused. Volunteers provide confidential, solution-focused response and assessment of crisis with intervention only when required. 
* support for people who are experiencing distress about their circumstances 
* referral to community services 
* training provided for volunteers on listening and communication skills, solution-focused conversation, and assessing high risk situations 
* suicide intervention / prevention when required

Eligibility Clients: People living with circumstances that may be causing distress, feelings of loneliness, isolation and confusion, and suicide thoughts and behaviours 
Volunteers: 18 years and older; police reference check / reference checks (professional and personal) required
