Description (Service) | COVID-19 Update: In response to the pandemic, all the Resource Centres are closed to the public. Staff continue to serve the community in this difficult time and are available by e-mail and phone until further notice. In order to help everyone stay safe, all workshops and youth programming are offered online and virtually. Call or e-mail for assistance and for more information on how to access these programs. Assists youth and adults in conducting career and job searches * drop in and youth support * one-on-one employment counselling * resources: computer work stations with word processing and internet access, photocopier, fax machine, job boards, access to community information and volunteer opportunities * Youth Job Connection: program for youth having difficulty finding and or keeping work. There is a paid pre-employment program followed by a supported paid work placement * Youth Job Connection Summer: for students 15-18, looking for summer employment and having difficulty finding and keeping work, or have never worked. There is a paid pre-employment program followed by a supported, paid work placement * Youth Drop-In Program: youth may use computers, do homework and access resources and support from staff * Second Career: staff will help with the application process and assess eligibility for the Employment Ontario Second Career re-training program * Ways2work: 16-week program for youth ages 15-30 who are out of work and school, not on EI and legally entitled to work in Canada. Youth will be paid minimum wage while attending and will receive certification for First Aid / CPR, Safe Food Handling, Smart Serve, WHMIS * ACE (Achieving Competitive Employment): assists individuals (including students) with disabilities and / or Individual Education Plans to find and maintain a job |
