Description (Agency) Operates by mandate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Description (Service) Established by the Farming and Food Production Protection Act to resolve disputes regarding agricultural operations 
* determines what constitutes normal farm practice to balance needs of the agricultural community with provincial health, safety and environmental concerns 
* protects agricultural operations from nuisance complaints of odour, dust, flies, light, smoke, noise and vibration that may arise from conducting a normal farm practice 
* protects operations from municipal bylaws that restrict a normal farm practice

Eligibility Members of the Board are appointed by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and serve for two years; may be reappointed to a maximum of 10 years. Members include farmers from across Ontario. Chair and vice-chair are usually lawyers with experience in agricultural issues.
