Description (Agency) Peer grief support programs and memorial events
Description (Service) Bereaved Families of Ontario – Midwestern Region provides peer support to bereaved families, children and individuals in Waterloo Region, Guelph and Wellington County. 
  • Programs include 8-week peer support groups for parents grieving the death of an infant and parents grieving the death of a child (of any age). 
  • Living with Loss program is an open, mixed-loss group for adults (18+) meeting each month virtually on the 1st Tue and Wed and the 3rd Tue of each month. 
  • Also have a Living with Loss group specifically for those grieving a substance use death (drugs or alcohol). This group meets virtually on the 3rd Wed of each month. Registration is required for Living with Loss groups to receive the link to Zoom to participate.
  • Healing Little Hearts program is professionally-led and for children ages 4-12. A concurrent group for parents/caregivers is held alongside the children’s group. 
  • Good Grief group is for teens ages 13-17 led by bereaved volunteers and a registered Social Worker.  
  • All groups are currently being offered virtually using Zoom.  
  • BFO-MR also offers memorial events and a lending library with grief-related books and resources.
