The organizations host tax preparation clinics and arrange for volunteers to prepare tax returns for individuals who have low income and a simple tax situation.

The CRA offers training and tax software for the volunteers as well as a network of CVITP coordinators to guide community organizations as they deliver the program. The registration period to become a CVITP volunteer is from October through January.
